With now over 15 years of activity dedicated to investments in energy transition infrastructure, SUSI Partners has built a unique track record as a mid-market specialist with deep industry expertise.

SUSI Partners was founded in 2009 based on an early identification of the energy transition as a generational challenge and investment opportunity including but extending far beyond a switch to renewable energy generation. With its holistic approach to investing in energy transition infrastructure, covering a wide array of sectors and business models, the company has remained at the forefront of this dynamic and continuously growing investment theme ever since.

SUSI’s product offering has evolved from sectoral funds focused on individual segments to holistic energy transition strategies that each cover a range of key energy transition themes and are differentiated by risk-return characteristics and geographic focus. With its dedicated Equity, Credit, and Asia strategies, the firm has developed a tailored offering to match risk appetites, always remaining firmly rooted in the infrastructure risk-return spectrum.

Having initially launched single asset-focused funds, including one of the earliest pan-European and multi-technology renewable energy funds in 2010 as well as a dedicated energy storage fund in 2016, SUSI’s Equity strategy today is focused on investments in asset portfolios and companies which develop, construct, and operate assets across European and other key OECD countries. The firm’s portfolio management capabilities have been built accordingly with specialised, in-house expertise focused on commercial, financial, technical and ESG matters systematically creating, preserving, and enhancing value.

SUSI has also built a unique track record with its Credit strategy, which is focused on senior-secured, asset-backed financing solutions for infrastructure-as-a-service business models. With this strategy, SUSI has to date invested approximately EUR 700 million into energy efficiency and other smaller-scale energy transition measures.

In 2021, SUSI started deployment through its dedicated Asia strategy, which focuses on investments in sustainable energy infrastructure projects in the emerging markets of Southeast Asia, a rapidly developing area with high demand for clean energy solutions. With its dedicated, local expertise and ability to mobilise capital, the firm creates significant economic and environmental benefits in the region.

While the energy transition today comprises a much wider opportunity set than 15 years ago, what has not changed is the urgency with which it needs to be advanced. SUSI remains fully committed to tackling this challenge and remains convinced that a world in which people and the planet can prosper for the long term requires a much faster redirection of institutional capital towards clean energy infrastructure.

SUSI’s principles and identity also remain steadfast. Guided by its core values – performance, partnership, sustainability and innovation – the SUSI team remains mission-focused on delivering attractive risk-adjusted and impactful returns to its clients.

The strength of the partnership among SUSI team members certainly came through during an anniversary trip to the Swiss alps – a perfect spot to reflect on and celebrate the achievements of the past 15 years. As longstanding team members would attest to: Not much has changed with regards to the SUSI team’s favourite pastimes as it continues to share an appreciation for nature, sports, community, good food (and karaoke). Onwards and upwards!
