Our Asia energy transition strategy targets the fast-growing opportunity in Southeast Asia, where rapid digitalisation, urbanisation and decarbonisation are accelerating the shift to cleaner power. Focusing on Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand, the strategy invests across utility-scale and on-site renewable energy generation while capturing emerging energy storage and demand-side opportunities in electrification and energy services, such as clean transport, industrial decarbonisation and energy efficiency. Value creation is driven by our team’s longstanding regional experience and its proven, hands-on platform-building capabilities.

  • Energy transition infrastructure

    We take control positions in sustainable greenfield energy infrastructure projects and portfolios which, once built, provide essential services and benefit from predictable, long-term contracted cash flows. Our particular focus lies on scaling up renewable energy (wind, solar, distributed generation) in Southeast Asian countries where these solutions are nascent but on the cusp of experiencing rapid growth.

  • Dedicated regional expertise

    We have a dedicated team in Singapore, which leverages our strong regional networks to form and invest through dedicated platforms and joint ventures with local partners. Our intricate knowledge of local conditions in the target markets – being the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Laos – allows us to invest in places that are often overlooked by international capital.

  • Enhancing project quality

    Investing in relatively less mature markets requires local knowledge and active management of the development, construction, and operation of greenfield projects to ensure high-quality, bankable assets. By supporting local developers with our longstanding energy transition expertise, we seek to plug existing knowledge gaps, improve project quality, and ultimately enhance asset values.

  • Achieving scale

    We actively construct substantial asset portfolios that can be consolidated into platforms of scale and thereby generate attractive financing and exit options.

  • Impact

    In collaboration with our partners (local developers and other sector specialists), and supported by investors in our Asia strategy, which include a number of multilateral banks and development finance institutions, we operate at the forefront of the energy transition in Southeast Asia where our investments set precedents and have a direct impact.

  • Environmental and social management system

    We employ a comprehensive Environmental and Social Management System (“ESMS”), the outputs of which flow directly into investment, construction, and offtake agreements. The ESMS furthermore structures the monitoring of development, construction and operational processes and ensures transparent, regular reporting of findings and risk mitigation measures taken.

Wholly owned C&I solar PV platform with a dedicated development and asset management team focused on developing, constructing and managing C&I solar PV projects across Southeast Asia

Sustainable Energy Solutions Partnership (SEA)

Wholly owned platform focused on energy efficiency, including circular economy, commercial and industrial bio-gas, and waste-heat recovery projects

Sustainable Pacific Impact Renewable Energy

Joint venture with Singapore-based Pacific Impact Development focusing on the greenfield development of utility-scale solar PV, wind, and hydro assets with the ability to continue through financing, construction, and operation of the assets.

Asia Clean Capital Vietnam

Convertible loan to Asia Clean Capital Vietnam, a developer and operator of rooftop and ground-mounted solar photovoltaic projects for commercial and industrial end clients in Vietnam.
