SUSI Partners acquires Danish wind farm from Local Energy
Zug/Zurich, 27 March, 2019: SUSI Partners acquires ten turbines in the Lønborg Hede onshore wind farm from Local Energy A/S through its Renewable Energy Fund II. The project is located in the municipality of Ringkøbing-Skjern, Denmark and has a total capacity of 68.3 MW, of which SUSI partners has acquired 36.0 MW.
Lønborg Hede I was commissioned in December 2011 and consists of a total of 7 Vestas V112-3.075 MW turbines. Subsequently, the extension of the Lønborg Hede wind farm was commissioned in December 2017 and consists of further 13 Vestas V117-3.45 MW turbines with upgraded power mode to 3.6MW. SUSI has acquired 10 turbines of the extension Lønborg Hede II, while Local Energy and residents of the surrounding area will retain 10 turbines. The SUSI turbines will supply the equivalent amount of energy used by 25,000 households and will thus help reduce CO2 emissions by displacing fossil fuel generation by approximately 33,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Chief Investment Officer at SUSI Partners, Marco van Daele, states: “The acquisition of Lønborg Hede represents SUSI’s third investment in the Danish renewables market, which we continue to deem attractive and are fortunate to now have built a sizeable platform in. We highly value the opportunity to work together with local developers and surrounding communities and look forward to a fruitful cooperation.”
Owner of Local Energy A/S, Jens K. Pedersen, states: “SUSI Partners have been chosen among several interested buyers as the new owner of the 10 wind turbines due to their commitment to respect and involve the local communities. SUSI Partners, with its 3 pillars of investment i) clean power generation, ii) energy efficiency enhancements and iii) integrated energy storage solutions, is a perfect match for the future of renewable energy in our region. We are proud to have been chosen as future partners and look forward to the cooperation.”
